Wage: $20.50-$25+/hr. DOE
POSITION SUMMARY: The Certified Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting in the mechanics of prescription filling, customer service, and enhancing the general operation of the pharmacy.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Enter prescription information and submit claims using the pharmacy software.
- Pack, pour, or otherwise fill and label containers for patient end use or pharmacy robot.
- Reconstituting prescription medications.
- Complete sale of prescription and non-prescription items using the pharmacy register.
- Maintain tight inventory control and help replenish pharmacy inventory.
- Answer phones and interact with other clinic staff and patients.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Current certification by the State of Oregon and the National Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician or ability to obtain certification prior to current licensure expiration.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification is preferred, but Siskiyou Community Health Center (SCHC) will provide upon hire.
- Proof of current immunizations meeting clinic health and immunization standards is preferred or ability to obtain upon hire.
- General knowledge of Medicare and other health plans for billing of patient’s prescriptions.
- Excellent knowledge of office processes and procedures, including computer word-processing and data entry.
- Can demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Can demonstrate effective customer relations skills, and the ability to work with diverse populations, often in stressful environments.
- Can demonstrate strong organizational skills and effective use of time, working at a rapid pace and managing multiple tasks at the same time.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Lifting, bending, reaching, pushing, carrying, and sitting.
- Vision and hearing corrected to within normal range.
- Physical mobility within pharmacy and clinic.
HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS:
- Minimal exposure to infectious diseases.
- Work with hazardous substances on a daily basis.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Position is 100% office-based.
- Occasional evening or weekend work required. Periodic state and national travel.
MACHINES, EQUIPMENT, TOOLS and SUPPLIES USED:
- Computer, printer, calculator, fax machine, copier, multi-line phone system, pharmacy dispensing robot, vivid counting device, light up will call system, and pharmacy translation devices.
- Access to an automobile and proof of insurance preferred for occasional coverage at other sites, but this is not a requirement.
