Siskiyou Community Health Center is seeking a full-time Billing Specialist in our administrative offices in Grants Pass. There will be no late nights, weekends, or major holidays. We support education and advancement, and you will work with a team dedicated to serving our patients.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Billing Specialist is responsible for posting patient and insurance payments, processing insurance denials, and working aged reports.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares and processes insurance claims including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance.
- Reviews Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) for denials, identifies issues, contacts insurance companies, and resubmits as required to ensure maximum reimbursement.
- Receives and posts payments to patient accounts.
- Reviews and verifies insurance claims and prepares refunds as appropriate.
- Prepares patient statements.
- Monitors reimbursement of selected procedures or payers, identifies changes in payment and reimbursement patterns, claims lag, or other changes and recommends corrective action to the Billing Manager if necessary.
- Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints.
- Answers inquires and correspondence from patients, providers, and insurance companies.
- Attends required meetings and trainings and shares information with coworkers.
- Processes adjustments per protocol.
- Scans Billing Department documents.
- Maintains confidentiality, punctuality, excellent attendance, and ethical conduct.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, and EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent education required.
- Minimum six months related experience required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
- Computer competency, including work processing, data entry, and Excel.
- Knowledge of accounts receivable practices, medical and dental office billing procedures.
- Knowledge of coding, medical and dental terminology, ad clinic operating policies and procedures.
- Effective customer relations skills, demonstrating the ability to work with diverse groups in a stressful environment, and displaying an understanding of group dynamics.
- Strong organization skills and effective use of time.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Lifting, bending, reaching, pushing, carrying, and sitting.
- Vision and hearing corrected to within normal range.
- Physical mobility with the office.
HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS:
- Minimal exposure to airborne pathogens.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Position is 100% office-based.
- Occasional evening or weekend work required.
- Possible travel between locations.
