Wage: $75,600/yr. + DOE

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of a qualified Dentist in a dental clinic setting, Dental Hygienist assesses patient needs, plans and delivers direct dental care and associated services to patients, and utilizes established dental hygiene protocol and procedures.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assesses dental condition and patient needs using patient screening procedures, including medical history review, dental charting, and periodontal Takes patient vital signs as required.
  • Documents dental history and/or chief
  • Records and reports pertinent observations and patient relations as
  • UnderthesupervisionofaqualifiedDentist,developsandimplementsindividualized dental care plans for patients.
  • Provides patient and family education.
  • Delivers direct patient care to patients as assigned, using established dental hygiene procedures, such as debridement, prophy, scaling and root planning, x-rays, application of sealants and fluorides, and related procedures.
  • Identifies high-risk patients and recognizes emergencies.
  • Assists with or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse reactions during treatment of patients.
  • Performs reasonable administrative and other responsibilities assigned by Siskiyou Community Health Center.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, and EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is
  • Graduation from an accredited Dental Hygiene School and current licensure as a Dental Hygienist in the State of
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Current CPR and First Aid
  • Proof of current immunizations meeting OSHA health and immunization

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work as a team and work independently.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State regulations and guidelines for the provision of care to dental patients.
  • Knowledge of patient screening, charting, and medical history procedures and
  • Ability to perform a full range of established dental hygiene services and
  • Ability to set up and prepare dental equipment and instrumentation in accordance with established regulations and guidelines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Lifting, pushing, and carrying up to 25 pounds.
  • Bending, reaching, and sitting.
  • Vision and hearing corrected to within normal.
  • Physical mobility within clinic.
  • Moderate physical activity.
  • Standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours at a time.

HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS:

  • Exposure to blood and body fluids.
  • Exposure to infectious diseases and airborne pathogens.
  • Contact with sharp and contaminated instruments.
  • Contact with patients and occasional rude and/or angry encounters.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Position is 95% clinic-based and 5% off-site.

  • Computer, printer, calculator, fax machine, copier, multi-line phone system, and/or cellular
