Patient Services Representative / Scheduler

Compassion meets community at Siskiyou Community Health Center, where our mission is to provide accessible, high-quality, compassionate healthcare to everyone in our community — regardless of circumstance.

As a Patient Services Representative (PSR), you are often the first point of contact for patients. Your professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail help remove barriers to care and ensure patients feel welcomed, respected, and supported from the moment they call or walk through our doors.

If you believe healthcare should be human, community-centered, and mission-driven, this role is for you.

Why This Role Matters

You are more than a scheduler.
You are more than a front desk representative.

You are a vital part of ensuring timely access to care. Every appointment scheduled, every phone call answered, every patient guided through our system contributes directly to improved health outcomes.

Your work helps patients:

  • Access appointments when they need care most
  • Understand available programs and services
  • Connect to interpreter services and community resources through our on-site Community Health Workers
  • Navigate insurance, Oregon Health Plan applications, and sliding fee scales

You are a bridge between patients and providers — and that bridge makes all the difference.

What You’ll Do

  • Greet patients and answer phones with professionalism and compassion
  • Schedule appointments efficiently while balancing patient needs and provider schedules
  • Complete accurate registration
  • Provide check-out support, including follow-up scheduling and diagnostic coordination
  • Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and confidentiality
  • Work collaboratively with providers and front office team members to ensure smooth operations

What You Bring

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • The ability to stay calm, organized, and solutions-focused in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with scheduling and patient registration (preferred)
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and medical office software (preferred)
  • A team-oriented mindset and commitment to multidisciplinary care
  • Bilingual Spanish skills (preferred but not required)
  • A passion for serving diverse patient populations

Healthcare experience is helpful — but compassion, professionalism, and reliability are essential.

Our Commitment to Work–Life Balance

At Siskiyou, we believe that caring for our community starts with caring for our team.

We offer:

  • Predictable clinic-based scheduling
  • Generous paid time off
  • Supportive team culture
  • Opportunities for professional growth
  • A stable, mission-driven workplace
  • Leadership that values teamwork and respect

While this role is fully on-site and may include occasional evenings or weekends, we strive to create sustainable schedules that allow you to recharge and thrive — not burn out.

The Environment

This is an active, hands-on role in a busy clinic setting. You will use computers, phone systems, scanners, and other office equipment daily. You will be on your feet at times, interacting with patients from diverse backgrounds — including, occasionally, managing difficult situations with professionalism and empathy.

Your ability to remain calm, organized, and kind under pressure will set you apart.

Qualifications

  • Six months of related experience preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish (oral and written) preferred
  • Proof of required immunizations
  • Successful completion of background check and drug screen
