Early Childhood Support Program
Nurturing strong beginnings for healthy, thriving futures.
For the past 30 years, Siskiyou Community Health Center has helped parents to keep their babies and toddlers healthy and safe. Babies don’t come with instructions. That’s why we’re here with helpful information and support to help parents be the best they can be. We provide home visitations, monthly play groups, parenting classes, books and educational materials, nutrition and fitness classes, transportation services and much more.
Our Programs
As a member of Healthy Families America, we work with parents during the critical early stages of their children’s lives, from conception to kindergarten. Our Outreach workers are parent educators certified through Parents as Teachers. We offer a relationship-based approach and embrace learning experiences that are relevant and customized for the individual needs of each family and child.
Prenatal support is offered for expecting mothers. Our program gives women confidence and support so they can have a healthy pregnancy and raise a healthy child. We teach parents about taking care of themselves during pregnancy, fetal growth and development, nutrition, caring for a newborn, breast feeding and formula feeding and preparing for labor and delivery. Everyone is welcome.
Playgroups can offer benefits for both children and caregivers. Playgroups allow children to try out new toys and activities, learn how to play with other children, encourage them to work on their language and communication skills, build their confidence and promote happiness while building their social skills. Playgroups allow caregivers to socialize with other parents, learn more about child development and other fun events happening in the community. Playgroups in Grants Pass, Cave Junction, and Medford are posted on our Events Page.
We understand that the health and well-being of your child goes beyond nutrition and physical health. Our Community Health Workers are trusted and knowledgeable liaisons between essential health and social services and community members. If you or someone you love is experiencing instability in housing payments, food, or transportation and needs assistance, please call and ask to speak to one of our Community Health Workers today.
Additional Family Services
Once your child reaches school-age, Siskiyou Community Health Center can provide high-quality medical and dental care directly to your student at their school. This convenience allows you to ensure your child’s health without navigating the obstacles of making appointments and traveling to a clinic.
Our centers’ goals are to bring the doctor’s office to the students in a safe and familiar manner so they may avoid health-related absences, and to give them the support they need to succeed.
The Siskiyou Smiles Dental Outreach Program offers your child the opportunity to receive dental preventive treatments at little or no cost to you through their school.
