What You’ll Do

As a Medical Assistant in a School-Based Health Center (SBHC), you will help ensure high-quality patient care by:

  • Preparing patients for examinations (vitals, interviews, Electronic Health Record/EHR updates)
  • Administering vaccines and other injections per protocol
  • Assisting providers during exams and procedures
  • Pre-planning charts and reviewing health maintenance needs
  • Preparing rooms, maintaining supplies, and ensuring readiness
  • Coordinating labs, refills, and follow-up communications
  • Providing patient education and preventive health materials
  • Supporting clinical operations and maintaining equipment

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an MA training program or 2+ years of MA experience preferred
  • Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures
  • Comfort with computers and EHRs
  • Strong communication skills and a calm, professional demeanor
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to working with diverse populations with empathy and respect
  • You are organized, safety-conscious, and motivated to be part of a healthcare team that truly cares.
  • Experience working in a school setting with high school age children is a plus
